I am Heather Meiselman, LCSW (Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker) located in Boca Raton, Florida. I have worked with the Senior population for 14 years. Residing in South Florida, a place with an abundance of our Elderly, has allowed me to live along side our Seniors, giving me perspective and understanding to the challenges they are experiencing in their daily life as they age.
I feel fortunate to be able to love my career and the client population I work with. Our Parents, Grandparents and beloved Seniors are aging, in many cases their adult children are out of state and their only 'family' is their aide, if they are fortunate enough to have one. Seniors are living longer and are having more difficulty "aging gracefully". Getting older triggers many feelings and issues including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Grief & Loss
- Aging Issues
- Relationship
- Loneliness
- Unresolved life issues
Both The Senior and their Adult Child can benefit from the services I offer. I visit my clients in their own familiar surroundings....their home. I can visit 1-2 times a week, and provide support to the family via phone and email. I am a MEDICARE Provider. I provide counseling services to seniors in Broward & Palm Beach Countird (Florida). Families get peace of mind that someone is looking after their loved one offering them understanding, support and compassion.
My clients typical response after meeting with me are "I wish I knew about you sooner" "Everyone should have a Heather" and "When can you come back?". Just knowing someone is there to check in on them, listen to them, and help them deal with their concerns helps to significantly decrease the client of their distressful symptoms.
